Is Black OK for a wedding?

What is a Black and White Wedding?

It's a colour scheme that is simple, yet timeless and never goes out of style and is both elegant and contemporary.

But FIRST, is it unlucky to have Black at your wedding?

Whether it's a Black dress, Black flowers or Black Glassware, it might be CONTROVERSIAL that Black is spooky. While a lot of brides still choose white dresses as it signifies purity, nowadays, brides are open to a variety of wedding dress colours that mean more to them rather than controversy.

I remembered I watched a Netflix Show called "Say I Do"  about couples who overcome obstacles to celebrate their love in surprise dream weddings designed by three experts in less than a week. After hearing about the story of the bride, whose father and sister just passed away, Thai Nguyen, the wedding designer created a Black Wedding Gown for the bride and said:

" It's non-traditional but meaningful because black is the colour represents your father and want him to be around you, surrounding you on that gown and purple crystal represents your sister, sprinkle all over your gown"

When it comes to the special day, we want things to be meaningful to us and I'm sure he's done such an amazing job for the bride. That actually brought me to tears while I watch the show. Oopsie!

I also came across a blog post about Wedding dress colour superstitions, it says:

Married in white, you will have chosen all right.
Married in grey, you will go far away.
Married in black, you will wish yourself back.
Married in red, you’ll wish yourself dead.
Married in blue, you will always be true.
Married in Pearl, you’ll live in a whirl.
Married in green, ashamed to be seen.
Married in yellow, ashamed of the fellow.
Married in brown, you’ll live out of town.
Married in pink, your spirits will sink.
